A National Conference on Iran and Economic Cooperation Organization was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Monday, 20 February 2012 in the IPIS.
The Conference was inaugurated by the honourable Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Ali Akbar Salehi.
The ECO Secretary General H.E. Mr. M. Yahya Maroofi and his Deputies also attended the Conference. The Secretary General in his remarks highlighted the activities of the Organization with a particular reference to Iran’s support toward the Organization. He also alluded that an Eminent Persons Group has been established by the 11th Summit with the task to review working/performance of ECO and suggest measures to enhance efficiency, dynamism and visibility of the Organization. He commented that the EPG in its recommendations could take into consideration the conclusions of this important Conference.
The Secretary General thanked the organizers for their timely initiative and considered it an important step towards better understanding of ECO.
