The Secretary General of ECO, H.E. Mr. M. Yahya Maroofi, on the invitation of the President of International Islamic University of Malaysia participated in the International Conference on Global Movement of Moderates under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Malaysia held in Kula Lumpur on January 17-19, 2012.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia, in his keynote address, emphasized the need for an integrated world to confront the menace of terrorism through global approach of moderation. The Prime Minister lauding the multi-national, multi-religious and multi-cultural structure of South Asia launched the Global Movement of Moderates (GMM) and the centre for coordination of Moderates Movement.
The participants and speakers were comprised of academicians, theoreticians, former Prime Ministers of Malaysia and high-ranking officials. The Secretary General’s statement on this occasion was distributed as official document of the conference.
