The Secretariat has participated in the 4th UN Conference on LDCs held on 9-13 May 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey.
The Conference assessed the results of the 10-year action plan for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) adopted at the Third United Nations Conference on LDCs held in Brussels, Belgium, in 2001 and considered new measures and strategies for the sustainable development of the LDCs into the next decade. In this context, the Conference adopted the Istanbul Declaration and the Istanbul Programme of Action for the decade 2011-2020 (IPoA). Istanbul Decleration, Istanbul Programme of Action (PoA) and Roadmap for Istanbul PoA is attached.
As the Secretariat representative had to leave the Conference early for participating in 21st RPC held on 17-19 May in Tahran, he just presented his statement to the Organizers of the Conference A copy of statement is also attached.
On the sidelines of the Conference, consulations with TIKA was also held for the projects for Reconstruction of Afghanistan.
