As part of his visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kh. Kazykhanov paid a visit on 9 October 2011 to the ECO Headquarters in Tehran. In the meeting with directing staff of the Organization, the Secretary General of ECO H.E. Mr. Mohammed Yahya Maroofi briefed the Foreign Minister on the current activities of the Organization. The issues related to economic matters, including on GDP growth and, in particular, on new mega projects at national level were deliberated. The Honorable Minister has noted that cooperation of the ECO with the UN and especially its Specialized Agencies is essential. The issues of food security and climate change were discussed in the framework of a number of new initiatives under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and at regional level, at large.
