H.E. Mr. Mohammed Yahya Maroofi, ECO Secretary General accompanied by relevant ECO officials held a meeting with Dr. Noureddin Mona, the newly appointed FAO Country Representative in the Islamic Republic of Iran on April 19, 2011, at the ECO Secretariat. After an exchange of views on ECO activities in the field of agriculture and FAO’s contributions especially to ECO Regional Program for Food Security (RPFS) following points have been agreed on:
Close cooperation between two organizations on the implementation of ECO Regional Program for Food Security (RPFS) will be maintained. FAO Headquarters have already indicated their willingness to support the establishment of ECO RCC with a TCP of 450.000 USD.
FAO-ECO TCP on Agricultural Statistics has been approved and will be launched soon.
FAO and ECO will develop a project for South-South Cooperation within the framework of ECO RPFS; Two sides will have technical meetings for details in due course.
