The 1st Meeting of ECO Heads of Surveying and Mapping Organizations, was held on 26-27 September, 2011 in Tehran, Iran.
The representatives of 9 countries, namely: Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran (host), Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Turkey and Turkmenistan attended this Meeting.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss latest developments and technologies, exchange of views and future regional cooperation among ECO countries in the field of Surveying and Mapping. The host country which is doing a lot of work in this field gave detailed presentations of their achievements and provided the participants with information about their facilities, as well as technical site visits to the National Cartographic Center. New proposals were also proposed for enhancing of Member States future cooperation.
