ECO, IDB and UNECE Sign Trilateral MoU (Geneva, 30th March 2011) |
The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) signed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva on 30th March 2011. The MoU was signed by the ECO Secretary Genera H.E. Mr. Mohammad Yahya Maroofi, UNECE Executive Secretary H.E. Mr. Jan Kubis, and IDB Vice President H.E. Dr. Ahmet Tiktik. The MoU provides a basis for cooperation between the three organizations in different areas of mutual interest, including identifying investment priorities for the development of transport linkages in the ECO region, assisting the ECO Member states in formulating and implementing strategies for accelerating investment in the transport sector, and promoting the ECO Transit Transport Framework Agreement (TTFA) and other international conventions aiming to facilitate international transport. The Parties shall prepare a work programme to implement the MoU.
