The 1st Permanent Steering Committee Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization on Economic Research (PSCM) was held on 3 May 2011 in Astana, Kazakhstan. High ranking participants from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and the host country Kazakhstan, have participated in this important event. The meeting has adopted the ECO Plan of Action for Economic Research which envisages coordinating activities of the PSCM pertaining to implementation in the ten Member States of ECO’s Joint Economic Research Programme. The Committee will provide the decision making bodies of the Organization with an in-depth economic analyses’ foundation to develop ECO Economic Policy for the long time frame based on the recommendations of the ECO Eminent Persons’ Group and other regulatory bodies. The Committee will be permanent. Its terms of reference have been discussed and approved at the said 1st Meeting of PSC. In view of the importance and scope of tasks vested with the Committee, the event has been inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Mohammed Yahya Maroofi ECO Secretary General. Among participants of the 1st PSCM, His Excellency has dialogued with the Minister for Economic Development of Republic of Tajikistan on the issues of cooperation within ECO.
