VIII International Conference “TransEurasia” (Astana, 10-11 November 2011) |
Upon invitation of Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport and Communications, the ECO Secretary General participated in VIII International Conference “TransEurasia” held on 10-11 November, 2011 in Astana. The Conference was attended by senior officials of 42 countries from transport authorities and private sector, and also delegates from ECO, SCO, EurAsEC, European Commission, CIS TСС, TRACECA, World Bank, IDB, JBIC, UIC, IRU, ICAO, IATA participated in the Conference:. The Conference has been inaugurated by His Excellency Mr. Aset Issekeshev, Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and New Technology and His Excellency Mr. Berik Kamaliev, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the Plenary Session I of the Conference, the Secretary General shed light on ECO’s major activities in the transport sector and shared future plans of ECO in the transport sector. He emphasized that, in view of advantageous geopolitical location of the region, a number of important rail and road projects have been initiated and implemented to establish connectivity between Asia-Europe and China. During his visit to Astana the Secretary General called on Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kh. Kazykhanov. |
