The 18th Meeting of Council of Ministers had welcomed the proposal of Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), the Turkish Agency of Technical Aid, for signing a protocol with ECO to take up reconstruction projects in Afghanistan. Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) signed a protocol with Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) for implementing reconstruction projects in Afghanistan on 5th August 2010 at the ECO Secretariat.
TIKA was authorized to implement the projects being financed by the remaining contribution of the Republic of Turkey to ECO Special Fund for Afghanistan.
TIKA operates in more than one hundred countries around the world including, the Caucasus, ECO Member Countries, South Asian and Middle Eastern Countries. The Government of the Republic of Turkey has provided $ 400 million for the reconstruction of Afghanistan. TIKA provides assistance in various fields such as, education, health, environment, banking and finance, insurance, customs, income generating activities, agriculture and tourism etc.
