The Ambassador of Switzerland to the Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Ms. Livia Leu Agosti called on the Secretary General on February 22, 2010. The Ambassador was informed about the ongoing activities of ECO such as Trade & Investment, Transportation, Narcotics, Organized Crimes and Environmental issues. The Ambassador appreciated the role ECO assumed in diverse fields.
The Secretary General informed the Ambassador about the structure of ECO and the high level Meetings held in different Member States. The Secretary General also explained the cooperation between ECO and different international agencies such as UNDP, UNISDR, Shanghai, and IRU. He also informed the Ambassador about the Silk Road project that created enthusiasm being a crucial instrument for enhancing Trade and Investment in the region.
The Ambassador asked the Secretary General about the initiatives of ECO on Energy Sector and mentioned her county’s experience in this field. She expressed the interest of her country to cooperate with ECO. The Secretary General welcomed her offer and appreciated the potentials of Switzerland in various fields and suggested that contacts on these end other areas of interest should be maintained in the future.
