Senior Officials Meeting preceding the 19th Council of Ministers Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held on 20-21 December 2010 at Istanbul, hosted by the Government of the Republic of Turkey. Preparatory/Review meetings were held on the sidelines for the finalization of the important documents.
The meeting was attended by delegations from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Ambassador Mithat Rende, Director General of Multilateral Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.
The Report of the Secretary General has been approved unanimously which contains activities of the Organization since the 10th Summit of the Organization in Islamic Republic of Iran. Among other important documents that are approved to be submitted to the Council of Ministers Meeting (COM) and the Heads of States of ECO Members is the Declaration of Istanbul containing the salient points of cooperation among the Members of ECO as a regional organization in charge of important regional issues at the time on global economic crisis calls for a joint action in various fields such as trade, transport, energy, fight against narcotics and organized crimes.
