Workshops on "Petroleum Refining Processes", "Introduction to the Major Petroleum Products" and "Conversion Processes for Heavy Oils" were held on 11-18 June, 2010 in Tehran, at the Convention Hall of Rahbaran Petrochemical Company.

The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company under the auspices of the Ministry of Petroleum of Islamic Republic of Iran and ECO Secretariat hosted this event. Representatives from five ECO Member States - Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran (host), Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Pakistan and Republic of Tajikistan participated in the Workshops.

The purpose of the Workshops was training and knowledge/experience sharing in the field of Oil and Gas Refinery among ECO Member countries. The host country, which is doing a lot of work in the field of Refinery, trained the participants through detailed audio-visual presentations on the latest technologies in the field.  A technical site visit to Tehran Oil Refinery Company was also organized which enabled the participants to get familiarized with the practical utilization of these technologies.

The Workshops were very helpful in training and updating the technical know-how of the participants. It was also recommended that such Workshops should be conducted annually or at least after every 2 years to enable the relevant experts of the Member States to benefit from the knowledge and experiences of each other in the field of oil and gas.
