- The 5th Meeting of the Heads of Privatization Administration of the ECO Member States was held in Istanbul on April 30, 2010. Delegates from all ten Member States and representatives from ECO Secretariat participated in the Meeting.
- The Meeting was inaugurated by H.E Mr. Ahmet Aksu, Acting President of the Privatization Administration of the Republic of Turkey and Mr. Fatih Unlu Deputy Secretary General of ECO. Mr. Ahmet Aksu, emphasized on importance of cooperation among ECO Member states especially in field of Privatization and Promotion of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and cross country investment in the privatization process. ECO Deputy Secretary General highlighted the need for sound regulation to maximize the long term efficiency of privatization and the role of government in improve investment climate.
- Heads of Privatization of ECO Member States presented their country reports on the privatization process, their achievements, and obstacles encountered by them and also threw light upon their future prospects/objectives. The economical situation of the countries and the experiences on the crisis faced in 2009 were discussed as well.
- The meeting reviewed the report of the 4th ECO HLEG Meeting on Privatization and Private Sector Development. The meeting endorsing this report, called on the Member States to take necessary measures for the implementation of the decisions taken by the 4th HLEG.
- Privatization Administration of the Republic of Turkey gave demonstration on Establishment of Common Privatization Web Portal for ECO Member States. The website address of the joint web portal is www.ecoprivatization.org. It is linked with the main page of ECO secretariat and would also be linked to the relevant pages of privatization administration of the ECO Member States. The meeting welcomed the offer of the Privatization Administration of the Republic of Turkey to host a workshop for the training of focal points of related countries who will upload the information on the ECO web portal.
- Islamic Republic of Iran announced to host the next meetings in the city of Isfahan, Iran in 2011.
