8th Meeting of the Ministers of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of CIHEAM’s Member Countries was held in Istanbul on March 7-10, 2010 with the participation of seven Members of the Agricultural Ministers level. ECO was invited to the Meeting as an observer. The Secretary General in his statement to the meeting informed the participants about ECO Regional Programme for Food Security (RPFS) prepared with the technical assistance of FAO and thanked Turkey assuming the role as ECO coordinator country for this Regional Programme.
The Secretary General and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Mr. Mehmet Mehdi Eker discussed the issues of common interest in their bilateral meeting in which ECO’s role was highly appreciated by the Minister. The Secretary General also attended a morning programme of TRT with the president of CIHEAM, H.E. Mr. Abdelaziz Mougou on March 8, 2010.
