2nd ECO Ministerial Meeting on Energy/Petroleum |
The 2nd ECO Ministerial Meeting on Energy/Petroleum was held at Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on 1st October, 2010. It was preceded by a Senior Officials meeting on 29-30 September, 2010. The Meeting was attended by the Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Republic of Tajikistan. High ranking delegations of Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Turkey and Turkmenistan and a delegation of the ECO Secretariat, led by the Deputy Secretary General also participated in the meeting.
The main achievement of the Meeting was review and adoption of the new Plan of Action on Energy/Petroleum Cooperation in the ECO Region (2011-2015) which will serve as the basic guideline for cooperation among the ECO Member States in the fields of energy/petroleum for the next five years. Another significant aspect of the meeting was approval of ECO-wide Policy on Energy which it decided should become an annex of the Plan of Action.
The meeting adopted its Report and Dushanbe Declaration.
The meeting also appreciated the offer of the Islamic Republic of Iran to host the next (3rd) ECO Ministerial Meeting on Energy/Petroleum in Tehran in 2012.
