Representatives of ECO Leading Economic Research Institutions have gathered in Tehran for their first meeting (MELERI) to discuss issues pertaining to economic research in ECO region. The Meeting decided to establish the ECO Steering Committee on implementation of economic research projects. At its next meeting, MELERI will adopt an Implementation\Action Plan on the development and implementation of economic research projects. Dissemination of best practices of economic performance of ECO member states throughout the region and economic research findings was also discussed. Selection and use of adequate economic analysis tools to meet the needs and requirements of ECO member states were discussed. Participants approved the Economic Research Programme and Framework of Cooperation Mechanism among Member States.
