The Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to the Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Dr. Gyorgy Busztin paid a call on the Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Mohammed Yahya Maroofi on February 3, 2010. H.E. Dr. Gyorgy Busztin having one year tenure in Afghanistan asked the Secretary General overall impression of ECO on Afghanistan. The Secretary General explained the objective of ECO fund for the reconstruction of Afghanistan. The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for ECO’s role in the region to address regional issues. The ambassador said that his mission will keep close contact with the organization especially when Hungary takes over the presidency of EU as of next year.
The Secretary General informed the ambassador about ECO’s cooperation with various international agencies and NGOs including close cooperation with EU in program against narcotic drugs in the region.
The possibility of training and orientation programs were also discussed within the framework of EU and ECO cooperation.
