The Secretary General of ECO, His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Yahya Maroofi, visited the Interpol Headquarters in Lyon, France on 7th October, 2010. In meeting with HeH.E. Mr. Ronald K. Noble, the Secretary General of Interpol, matters related to enhancing cooperation between the two organizations were discussed.
The ECO Secretary General emphasized the need for cooperation between the two organizations in the areas such as drug trafficking, human smuggling, money laundering, and organized crimes. The Interpol Secretary General lauded ECO’s efforts and ensured all possible cooperation. He particularly appreciated efforts towards the establishment of ECOPOL as a mechanism for police cooperation among the ECO Member States.
