The Resident Coordinator of the United Nations/Resident Representative of the UNDP in Tehran, H.E. Ms. Consuelo Vidal, paid a courtesy call to the Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Mohammed Yahya Maroofi on January 17, 2010. The Secretary General stressed the close cooperation between ECO and the UNDP. The Secretary General discussed with her the matters of common interest regarding ECO’s cooperation with UN and Specialized Agencies. The Secretary General also gave information about cooperation between ECO and UN Specialized Agencies such as UNDP, UN/OCHA and UNISDR.
H.E. Ms. Consuelo Vidal expressed her wish for a closer cooperation regarding İran, her area of mandate. She also mentioned particular interest on interregional relations with CIS and ASEAN Pasific countries. H.E. Ms. Consuelo Vidal asked the Secretary General about sub-regional approach of ECO. The Secretary General explained ECO’s sub-regional approach by giving examples of trilateral cooperation. Both sides agreed on maintaining closer cooperation.
