The Workshop on 'technical and operational aspects of establishing financial postal services between the postal administrations of the ECO member states’

The Workshop onTechnical and operational aspects of establishing financial postal services between the postal administrations of the ECO member states’ was held at Ankara on 21 October 2009. Delegations from seven ECO Member States, namely Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Turkey, as well as a delegation from the ECO Secretariat attended the Workshop. The Workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Cemal Dincer, Head of International relations Department of the Turkish Post. He welcomed the participants to Turkey. In his inaugural statement Mr. Hooman Fathi, the ECO Representative, provided an overview of the postal sector in the ECO Region.

The Workshop discussed various subjects on how best the regional cooperation in the field of financial postal services can be enhanced, specifically by linking the member states to each others’ postal financial services. The workshop reviewed the current status of the linkages between the financial postal services of the member States, the existing alternative systems for establishing postal financial linkages in the ECO, and the infrastructure requirements required for establishing such linkages.
