The Ambassador of Netherlands to Iran, H.E. Mr. Radinck J. van Vollenhoven, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Mohammed Yahya Maroofi, the ECO Secretary General, on November 12, 2009. The Ambassador during the discussion underscored the importance of multilateralism to effectively address the common needs/challenges in today’s world. He also talked about the success of multilateralism in Europe after the World War-II. The Secretary General while highlighting the importance of ECO as a strong regional block of 10 countries gave an overview of the activities of Organization, its priorities in different areas. He said that ECO has been making steady progress and has gained considerable importance both at the international and regional level. He also informed the Ambassador about the efforts of ECO to enhance the scope of its external relations.
