The 1st Meeting of the Steering Committee on Establishment of ECO Nanotechnology Network (ECO-NAN) was held on 05 November, 2009, in ECO Secretariat, Tehran, and hosted by the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) and Technology Cooperation Office - Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The delegates from the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Turkey as well as representatives of the ECO Secretariat participated in the Meeting. Prof. Ali Beitollahhi, Head of Infrastructure Development, Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) chaired the Meeting. He briefed the Meeting regarding the previously designed website is fully active (www.econano.org). He emphasized that each Member State can update their data in this respect by e-mailing the relevant information to Mr. Davoud Gharailou (Gharailou@nano.ir), in ECO Coordination Unit. It was decided that: i.) A Plan of Action shall be prepared regarding the guidelines of the cooperation in all areas of nanotechnologies, ii.) The 1st ECO-NANO Workshop on Best Practices will be held in 2010, iii.) The exchange of visits of nanotechnology experts amongst Member States shall be arranged & iv.) Some joint projects in the area of interest for Member States shall be defined.
