An ECO meeting on SME development was held from 26-27 October 2009 in Lahore, Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Participants from members of the Committee (Iran, Pakistan and Turkey) attended the meeting. The Steering Committee was inaugurated and chaired by Mr. Shahid Rashid, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), Ministry of Industries & Production of Government of Pakistan. Mr. Khosrow Hajian, Program Officer represented the ECO Secretariat. During the proceedings of the meeting, the delegates exchanged Best Practices being exercised in their respective countries on development of small and medium enterprises. The proposal submitted by Pakistan with regard to the Digital Information Exchange Network (IDENE) was considered by participants in detail along with the proposal of Iran on ECO SME Fair Network. The meeting also appreciated the Republic of Turkey for holding the Pilot Training Program on Best Practices. The meeting concluded by developing a plan of action on projects focused on exchange of information and business opportunities amongst the member states.
