Seminar on Ecotourism ( Turkey , Kastamonu , 7-9 May 2007) |

Press Release The Seminar on Ecotourism was held at Kastamonu province on 7-9 May 2007. It was hosted by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey. The delegates from 6 ECO Member States as well as a representative from ECO Secretariat attended the Seminar.
The Seminar was inaugurated by H.E. Mustafa Kara, the Governor of Kastamonu Province and Dr. Kemal Yalinkilic, Director General of Nature Conservation and National Parks of the Republic of Turkey. The participating countries named as attached, shared their experiences and elaborated on various approaches, practices and plans being implemented by them.
The Seminar was briefed by the Eco representative on the agreement reached by the 3rd Ministerial Meeting on holding the Ecotourism Seminar by the Republic of Turkey and the need for identifying the potentials existing in the region and developing cooperation in the field among the ECO member states.
The Seminar was aimed at reviewing the current status on ecotourism in the ECO region, identifying the potentials existing in ECO member countries, exploring ways and means to establish and develop cooperation in the ecotourism sector specially in the area of exchange of experience and information, and finalizing its recommendations for submission to the Task Force Meeting scheduled to be held in October, 2007 in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As it was scheduled, the participants also had field trips and paid a visit to Kure Mountains National Park and became familiar with the efforts made by Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey.
