Training Course on “Watershed Rehabilitation” was held on 21-25 May 2007 in Malatya, Turkey with in the context of strengthening regional cooperation among ECO countries in the field of Land Resources Management. It was organized and conducted by the General Directorate of Aforestation and Erosion Control of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, in collaboration with and support of the ECO Secretariat and Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TICA).
30 experts from 8 ECO member states namely Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey (host) and Turkmenistan representing their Governmental, Scientific and Non-Governmental Organizations shared the experience on the field of sustainable rural development through adoptable watershed management and rehabilitation measures. Also they were familiarized with two Watershed Rehabilitation Projects realized in Eastern Anatolia, Malatya province.
