First ECO Meeting of Heads of Veterinary Organizations

  1. First ECO Meeting of Heads of Veterinary Organizations was held on 15-17 November 2006 in Tehran. The Meeting was hosted by the Veterinary Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran.  The delegates Afghanistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kyrgyz , Pakistan, Tajikistan and Turkey participated in the meeting. Representatives from FAO, OIE and ECO Secretariat also attended in the meeting.  

 

  1. Dr. Jafar Khalaghani, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Jihad-e-Agriculture of the Islamic Republic of Iran inaugurated the meeting. ECO Secretary General, Mr. Khurshid Anwar and the Representatives of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) and OIE (World Animal Health Organization)  and delegates from the member states also delivered their statements.

 

  1. FAO Representative presented three ongoing regional projects concerning ECO member countries. The FAO/AGAH/EUFMD Representative presented the ongoing projects on FMD (Food and Mouth Disease) Surveillance implemented in Iran and stated that phase-2 (2008-2009) would be opened to ECO member countries.

 

  1. The meeting considered Draft Articles of Association of ECO Permanent Commission for Prevention and Control of Animal Diseases (ECO-PCPCAD) and proposed some amendments. The meeting decided that the document would be considered by the 17th RPC in February, 2007.
