The ECO-IDB Workshop on Privatization was held on 20-22 December 2006 in Ankara, Turkey. The workshop was hosted by the Privatization Administration (PA) of the Republic of Turkey.  Experts from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kyrgyz, and f Kazakhstan, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan participated in the Workshop along with officials of the ECO Secretariat. Islamic Development Bank (IDB) financially supported the workshop. 

The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Metin Kilci, the President and Head of Privatization Administration of the Republic of Turkey. In his statement he highlighted the importance of privatization in economic development.

The delegates delivered country reports regarding the status of privatization in their countries.

During the workshop, the staff of PA also presented their efforts in privatizing the Turkish Telecom, TUPRAS refinery (petroleum sector), energy sector, iron and steel sector (ERDEMIR) and seaports in Turkey.

The delegates visited Turkish Telecom and TUPRAS refinery which have been privatized recently.
