Feasibility Study on the Rehabilitation of Nawar Bridge of Hesarak in Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan

          H.E. Mr. Askhat Orazbay, the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), handed over a copy of draft feasibility study prepared by the ECO-Consultancy & Engineering Company (Pvt) Ltd (ECO-CEC) on the rehabilitation of Nawar Bridge of Hesarak in Nangarhar Province to H.E. Mr. Muhammad Umer Daudzai, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tehran and Permanent Representative to the ECO on 24th October, 2005, for consideration of the Afghan authorities. The report will be finalized after the receipt of the views of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
 
          The said feasibility study was awarded to ECO-CEC through an agreement signed on June 13, 2004, in Tehran. The engineers and technical experts of ECO-CEC visited the project site in July and August 2005 to collect data and carry out necessary studies. ECO attaches high priority to participation in the ongoing international efforts aimed at the reconstruction of Afghanistan and the aforementioned study is one of the many initiatives that the ECO has taken in that direction.
 
          Nawar Bridge is located near Hesarak, Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan at a distance of about 75 km from Jalalabad and 35 km from Sorobi, a town situated between Jalalabad and Kabul.
