ECO Secretary Generalís courtesy visit to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

H.E. Mr. Askhat Orazbay, the ECO Secretary General, made a courtesy visit to Turkmenistan on August 23-24, 2005 aiming to establish personal working contacts with high-level officials of this country and discuss topical issues within the framework of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
During the visit, the ECO Secretary General met H.E. Mr. Amandurdy Muratkuliev, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan, and H.E. Mr. Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The range of the most topical and urgent issues related to ECO, including implementation of the ECO priority projects, participation of Turkmenistan in ECO activities, administrative matters, etc. were discussed during the visit.
During the both of the meetings, the ECO Secretary General expressed hope that Turkmenistan would continue its active participation in implementation of ECO projects in priority fields such as trade, transport, energy, etc. given Turkmenistanís high potential in these areas.
Positive feedbacks received by the ECO Secretary General in the course of the meetings with the abovementioned high dignitaries of Turkmenistan reflect the countryís readiness to strengthen regional cooperation within the framework of ECO.
