ECO Secretary General met Tajik Minister of Culture

            Mr. Askhat Orazbay, Secretary General of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) met with Mr. Rajabmad Amirov, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan in ECO Secretariat on March 3, 2005, on his request.    

Mr. A. Orazbay informed the Minister about ECO activities and its plans for future. In the course of meeting, great importance was given to ECO activity in the field of culture.  

The Secretary General has informed the Minister that within the framework of ECO, ECO Cultural Institute held Theatrics Festival and is planning to hold Musical Festival. Reminding about the forthcoming Board of Trustees Meeting of ECO Cultural Institute scheduled to be held in Pakistan in 2005, Secretary General requested the Republic of Tajikistan to take active part in this meeting.        

The Minister, while telling about cultural activities of Tajikistan, informed that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan decided to hold International festival of folklore music titled “Voice of hearts” in Dushanbe in September 2005. Inviting the ECO Member States to participate in this Festival, the Minister has requested the ECO Secretariat to render support and assistance in preparation and holding this important event.     

            During the meeting, the Parties have expressed their aspiration to revitalize the ECO cultural activities.
