The First Meeting of the Postal Authorities of ECO

PRESS RELEASE

          The First Meeting of the Postal Authorities of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan in April 20-21, 2004 according to the ECO Calendar of Events. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Kalmurat A. Aidaralief,  General Director of State Enterprise “Kyrgyz Post” of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyz Republic and co-chaired by Mr. Morteza Khalaj, Director of Transport and Communications of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

          Delegations from Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Turkey attended the meeting. They discussed various aspects of postal cooperation among the member states and agreed to upgrade this cooperation through better utilization of existing training centres, holding seminars, workshops and exhibitions, issuing common stamps, establishing working groups of experts, exchange of experiences of privatization policies, and through the exchange of experts.

          The Iranian delegation offered to host the Second Meeting of the ECO Postal Authorities in Tehran in the Spring of 2005.
