ECO Secretary General meets the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister of I. R of Pakistan

H.E. Mr. Askhat Orazbay, the Secretary General of ECO and the Finance Ministers of the ECO Member States were received by H.E. General Pervez Musharraf, the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and H.E. Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on the side lines of the 1^st ECO Ministerial meeting on Finance & Economy which was held in Islamabad on January 30, 2004. It was first visit of H.E. Mr. Askhat Orazbay, ECO Secretary General to Pakistan after assuming his responsibility on January 07, 2004.

During these meeting, there was general understanding on the need for enhancing cooperation among the ECO member states in the key area including finance/economy for achieving desired goals and objectives of the Organization and for the sustainable development of the region.

The President and the Prime Minister emphasized on the member states to strengthen cooperation and highlighted the importance for implementation of decisions taken by the ECO decision-making organs.

The ECO Secretary General assured the President and the Prime Minister that he will undertake all possible measures for the implementation of decisions and enhancement of efficiency and effectiveness of the Organization.
