ECO and UNECE signed MoU

Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) signed an MoU with United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) at the European Headquarter of UN. In this ceremony the representatives of all European Countries attending the Meeting, ECO Member States and representatives from other International Organizations, were participating. The Executive Secretary of UNECE and ECO Secretary-General signed the MoU.

Based on this document the two organizations would expand their cooperation in the fields of Transportation, Trade, Industry, Energy Sustainable Development, Environment, and Economic and Statistics Analysis. This cooperation would particularly be in the form of consultancy and cooperation in major fields of activities of the two Organizations, exchange of information and documents, and active participation of the representatives of the organizations in their meetings.

Mr. Arastou, ECO Secretary General, after signing the MoU stated that this would be a great step towards strengthening the future cooperation between these important International Organizations and hoped that the implementation of the MoU, as well as continious follow up of the ECO Secretariat and UNECE, great economic achievements would be gained for both regions.
