Prime Minister of Turkey Supports ECO Activities

            H. E. Mr. Bulent Ecevit, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey while receiving the ECO Secretary General, expressed full support of the Government of Turkey to the ECO activities.  He underlined that the Member States should participate actively in ECO’s programs in order to realize the potentials of the region having 350 million population and stretching an area of 7.9 million sq. Km. Mr. Ecevit as well called ECO countries on to support Afghanistan in her efforts to reconstruct the country.

            H. E. Seyed Mojtaba Arastou, ECO Secretary General, in this meeting pointed out that Istanbul Declaration, to be issued during the Summit Meeting, should provide new proposals and directions to strengthen the cooperation among the ECO Member States.  He also emphasized that the ECO Member States should propose a cooperative scheme to assist Afghanistan.
