H.E. Mr. Seyed Mojtaba Arastou during an official introductory meeting has assumed his office as new Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). H.E. Dr. Adeli, Deputy Foreign Minister on Economic Affairs and the Ambassadors of the ECO Member States have participated in this ceremony. H.E. Dr. Adeli, while referring to the vast and long experiences of Mr. Arastou in International Communities specially in affairs related to the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), expressed his hopes that this appointment which has taken place by the proposal of H.E. Dr. Kamal Kharazi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran and approval of the Council of Ministers, will be an effective step in expedition of the objectives of the ECO. Then, H.E. Mr. Arastou while appreciating the efforts of H.E. Dr. Abdolrahim Gavahi, former Secretary General, through a short speech, intimated the main axes of his working program for :
At the end, he solicited the support of all ECO Member States for Plan of Action of ECO and their active participation in ECO Meetings. Mr. Mojtaba Arastou besides vast experiences in ECO Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been working as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the United Nations Organization in Vienna and Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Geneva and also as Director General of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. | |
