ECO Secretary General called on UNESCAP Executive Secretary

            H. E. Dr. Abdolrahim Gavahi, ECO Secretary General, called on H. E. Mr. Kim Hak Su, UNESCAP (United Nations Economic & Social Commission for Asia & Pacific) Executive Secretary, in Bangkok, today 22 May 2002, in order to discuss specific ECO projects to enhance the already growing up ECO-UNESCAP cooperation in multidimensional fields including Transportation and Telecommunication, Trade and Investment, Energy, Environment and infrastructural development.

            Upon the invitation of ECO Secretary General, Mr. Hak Su showed his willingness to attend the next ECO Summit Meeting to be held in October 2002 in Republic of Turkey. He also expressed his interest to depute UNESCAP Directing Staff to attend ECO Ministerial Meetings in order to have coordinated programs/workshops for development of ECO region. In this context, Dr. Gavahi requested for technical and financial support in the fields of mutual interest.
