ECO Secretary General confers with the President and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan

            Dr. Abdolrahim Gavahi, ECO Secretary General during his visit to Kazakhstan to take part in the meeting of World Economic Forum, held in Almaty, called on H. E. Noursoltan Nazarbaiev, President of the republic of Kazakhstan and exchanged views on the recent ECO achievments, as well as the ways and means to expand cooperation among the Member States.

 

            In this meeting, ECO Secretary General appreciating the support provided by Kazakhstan as a key Member of ECO, asked for more active participation of Kazakhstan in the ECO official meetings ahead, especially the meetings of ECO Ministers of Agriculture, Foreign Affairs, and ECO Summit Meeting to be held in Turkey, this year.

 

            In return, the Kazakh President agreeing on the subjects discussed, stressed that Kazakhstan is fully supporting ECO in promoting Trade, Transportation and Energy cooperation among the Member States.

 

            Also, ECO Secretary General met with H. E. Tokayev, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan and reviewed the current activities of ECO. Dr. Gavahi reporting on the achievments made in the past two years, referred to the activities made pertaining to the promotion of Trade, Transportation and Communication, Environment, Mines, Energy and Costumes cooperation of the Member states. The Kazakh Foreign Minister showing his satisfaction, stressed on the full support of Kazakhsatn for promotion of ECO in all aspects.

       

            On verge of these meetings, ECO Secretary General also met with the Kazakh Minister of Economics and Trade, H. E. Majid Hosseinbayev, and conferred the issue of removing Tarrif and Non Tarrif Barriers between the ECO Member States, as well as expansion of trade volume among them.
