ECO Secretary General, meets Dr. Aref, First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran

            On the Occasion of H. E. President Khatami’s visit to the Central Asian Countries to participate in the Caspian Sea Summit Meeting, ECO Secretary General, Dr. Abdolrahim Gavahi made a courtesy call on Dr. Aref, First Vice President Of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

            In this meeting ECO Secretary General explained ECO secretariat’s ongoing activities, programs and projects and also elaborated the challenges ECO is facing with.

            While appreciating the significant role of the Islamic Republic of Iran, ECO Secretary General hoped that active participation of all ECO Member States would lead to more achievments and prosperity in the region.

             In return, Dr. Aref, while appreciating the able leadership of Dr. Gavahi, assured him of full support of the Islamic republic of Iran to all ECO activities. He also stressed the need that the Secretariat and Member States should expedite ECO projects, especially in the priority areas.
