Annex- C: Outline/Methodology for Cooperation in Energy Conservation between the ECO countries

8th Consultative Meeting of 

Executive Heads of Sub-Regional Organizations

Proposed by the participants of the Ad-Hoc Committee Meeting of Experts

held in Ankara on 6 December, 2001

 

          With reference to the 1st Meeting of the Executive of Oil, Gas, Petro-chemical & Power Industries (Almaty, 8-9 October 1999) and Plan of Action for Energy/Petroleum Co-operation in the ECO Region (2001-2005) endorsed by 11th RPC (Tehran, 1 March 2001), the following Outline/Methodology for Co-operation in Energy Conservation between the ECO Countries is proposed:

1.         Initiation in establishing regular bilateral and multilateral contacts between ECO Member States by organizing meetings, workshops, seminars, etc.

 

2.         Exchange of views among ECO Member States in the following fields:

 

•    Formulating strategies for energy efficiency;

•    Policies and programmes for the energy conservation in the residential, industrial, power, agricultural and transport sectors;

•    Regulations and rules on energy conservation and efficiency;

•    Exchange experience on the establishment of national energy efficiency institution/agency centers;

•    Standardization, certification and methodology in the field of energy saving.

•    Training of personnel.

 

3.         To encourage the transfer of energy conservation science, technology know-how and experience between ECO Member States. In this regard, ECO Member States will submit to the ECO Secretariat the addresses and details of their relevant authorities specializing in this area.

 

4.         Seeking assistance of the international organizations experienced in the subject matter.
