Web Manager

Project Number and Title:                   AD/RER/01/C38 - Strengthening the Drug Control Coordination Unit (DCCU) of the Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) - Phase II

Title of the post:                                  Computer Operator/Web Manager

Duty station:                                        Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran

Duration of assignment:                      24 months

Scheduled starting date:                     Second half of 2002

Duties and Responsibilities:

            Under the overall supervision and administrative authority of Assistant Director of  ECO and under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer, the Computer Operator/Web Manager will be responsible to perform the following duties:

As envisaged by the Project AD/RER/01/C38, the Computer Operator/Web Manager should be either recruited from one of the ECO Member States or nationals of the Beneficiary States.    Computer Operator/Web Manager will be responsible for providing substantive support for efficient functioning of the Drug Control Coordination Unit (DCCU). Computer Operator/Web Manager will mainly be responsible for the development and maintenance of DCCU Database, Development and maintenance of Secure Web site, establishment of required infrastructure for online information and communication services, maintenance of local area network (LAN), Internet connectivity, besides introducing modern information technology tools to improve communication amongst the DCCU and NFPs of the ECO Member States.  Computer/Web Maintenance Operator will also assist the DCCU staff in use of computer systems. 

Qualifications:

            Computer Operator/Web Manager should be highly specialized professional with requisite qualification of Master or Bachelor degree in computer science or communication engineering with at least five years of professional experience in operation of information technology based complex and modern information and communication systems. The person should have expertise and experience in computer programming, web development, network management and distributed Database development.  Familiarity with Micro-Soft Visual development tools, SQL and Internet Security/Protocols will be considered as a plus point. 

Language Requirements:

High level of proficiency in English Language is required (both oral and written) and knowledge of other ECO region languages would be considered as an additional asset.
