In compliance with paragraphs (74 and 266) of the Reports of the 19th and 20th RCP Meetings held in 11-15 January 2009 and 16-18 February 2010 and paragraph 14 subpara 91 of the Report of the 18th Meeting of Council of Ministers of the ECO, the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) has been established in ECO. Its main objective is to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in project implementation. The group meets quarterly to discuss issues pertaining to project implementation in the Member States. Inter-agency coordination between ECO and other international stakeholders on project activities is among the current responsibilities of the PMG. The First Meeting of the PMG took place on 12 December 2009 in the Secretariat.

The Guidelines for ECO Projects which reflect policies, principles and standards for project implementation have been deliberated in detail by the Departments in the Secretariat. During the above said meeting in December 2009, the Guidelines were adopted for use on project activities in ECO.

Project management frameworks have been in focus of the First Training Workshop on PRINCE-2. It was conducted by ECO in cooperation with UNDP. The UNDP Project leading team of seven resource persons has conducted three days hands-on training for Staff of the ECO.
