In the Name of the Almighty
To: H.E. Mr. Mohammed Yahya Maroofi Distinguished Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization
I would like to express my sincere felicitations to Your Excellency and your colleagues at the Secretariat on the occasion of the ECO Day. It has been 17 years since the establishment of the Economic Cooperation Organization and its expansion to a 10 – Member States Organization. Commonalities in terms of history, geography and culture among ECO Member States have turned this organization into a great family. A promising future is reflected from the achievements obtained throughout these years when ECO succeeded to institutionalize cooperation and to plan and implement major projects in the field of transport, trade, energy, agriculture, health, environment, tourism and human resource development through concluding various important agreements such as ECOTA, Investment Promotion Agreement, TTFA and Agreement on Business Visa Simplification Procedure. In addition, during the past years, ECO has succeeded to expand cooperation with different regional and international organizations. In the area of academic and cultural cooperation, ECO has created the proper ground through establishing colleges and academic, cultural institutes. This reflects the strong determination of ECO member states to improve relations and cooperation which will enable this Organization to achieve more success.
Thanks to the existing strong will of ECO Member Heads of States for developing ECO activities, which was also highlighted in the last Summit in Tehran, ECO will be able to turn into a powerful regional organization. In this direction, the efforts made by Your Excellency were unquestionably fruitful and I am confident that during your term of duty we will witness more ECO capacities to be utilized. I wish you success Seyyed Amir Mansur Borghe’i |
