I
would like to express my sincere congratulations to Your Excellency and
to the brotherly Government and people of the Islamic Republic of
Pakistan on the ECO Day, the 7th of Azar (28th of
November), which marks the expansion of the Economic Cooperation
Organization.
It
is heartening that ECO has consolidated itself as an important regional
organization, with the signing of important agreements and
implementation of major projects in priority areas. The ECO programs and
projects, agreed at various Summit and Foreign Ministers’ Meetings and
supported by the strong political will of Member States for a dynamic
partnership, have created a bright future. This is in accord with the
ECO Vision 2015 to promote the common interests of member countries and
their people.
Your
Excellency,
The
active participation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and your
sincere patronage of this organization are indeed important components
of regional cooperation under the ECO. I am confident that with your
positive approach and continued support, this cooperation will increase
further to serve the best interests of the people of the region. In this
connection, I look forward to exchanging views with Your Excellency on
regional issues and to benefit from Your Excellency’s views on
initiatives to revitalize regional cooperation under the ECO.
As a
founding member of the ECO and one strongly committed to its principles
and policies, the Islamic Republic of Iran wishes further expansion of
close relations with neighboring Moslem countries. It would spare no
effort to use all its capabilities for the promotion of regional
cooperation. Indeed, the realization of the ECO’s objectives stands high
on Iran’s regional agenda.
Please accept, Excellency, the assurances
of my highest consideration, with my best wishes for the brotherly
people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
