On behalf of my people and Government and on my own behalf, I have the pleasure to convey to you and your esteemed colleagues our warmest felicitations on the ECO Day.

The people and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan appreciate the achievements and positive initiatives of the ECO and consider them an honour for you and the ECO Member States.

With the active support of its members, ECO is able to encompass different aspects of the socio-economic life of the Member States and promote coordination in their views and efforts.  It also paves the way for mutual reliance and cooperation among the member states on the one hand and between ECO and other regional and international organizations on the other.

May I also take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to the leadership of the Organization and the Member States for the ECO Special Fund for the Reconstruction of Afghanistan which has been established within the framework of ECO and with the financial support of member states contributing to the Fund.

While reiterating my congratulations and best wishes for the continued success of the ECO, let me assure you that the Government of Afghanistan will spare no effort to contribute to ECO’s goals and objectives in accordance with its principles and with the support of other Member States.
